Ever been confused if your child has dyslexia OR dyscalculia? Could it be both? You might be right as there is considerable overlap between the two.
Several skills need to work in unison to become successful in Math. Not only number skills, but also reading skills are important. Without good decoding and comprehension it is impossible to even understand what a word problem is asking for. And writing 3/4 as 4/3 might be as closely related to dyslexia as to dyscalculia. It is not widely known yet that some students even have a combination of dyslexia and dyscalculia.
This is the reason our Services include an Error Analysis and screening for both reading and numeracy skills. Click on the diagram under Services to enlarge the image. To find the right help and be a good advocate for your child it is important to have information on both at your fingertips.
