Math in the Summer

Summer is here and most students will be happy that school leaves them alone for a few months.

Research however has shown that students lose about 3 months worth of knowledge they gained during the school year, in the summer months when they do nothing with it. This goes for reading but also for math.

Although we realize that it may be a hard sell to convince your student to do something math related over the summer, yet it is important. Here is a list of things you may consider.

Dyscalculia Services will also run their SPIRIT program this summer. SPIRIT is short for Summer Program Individual Review In-depth Tutoring. So SPIRIT provides you with options to:

  • Have your student repeat some topics they didn’t quite get this year
  • Prepare your student for the next grade
  • Have your student focus on one topic they struggled with
  • Or you may have your own plans you can discuss with us.

The main thing is that they stay engaged and do not lose all that knowledge they worked so hard for this year to master.

All sessions are individual and via zoom or another video platform.
